A Tribute to Scotty Malcolm
Written by: Rob Irwin
On Wednesday April 3rd, the Kinsmen Club of Lindsay lost a beloved long-time member, Scott Malcolm, at the age of 64.
Scotty always brought a positive attitude, that ray of sunshine, to every event that the Kinsmen hosted. You’d often find him behind the bar helping to serve drinks at one of our fundraising dances, or graciously accepting toy donations during our annual Toy Mountain events.
One thing that he loved was when we would participate in the annual Bowl for Kids’ Sake at Strike Point Bowling. Scotty was an avid bowler and he loved to show his teammates up by easily beating us every time.
At our meetings, Scotty was always our go-to member to start singing O Canada. His enthusiasm for leading the National Anthem always cheered us up and put us on the right track to have a successful meeting. On the off chance that he would miss a meeting, his absence was noticeably felt, as the mood of the room just wasn’t the same.
Scotty was a member of our Club for 30+ years. He was always quick to tell a silly joke or talk about his beloved Blue Jays.
He loved our Club and every member loved him. He was the spirit of our Club, and without him things just won’t be the same. He will always be in our thoughts and hearts. His spirit will carry on with us and his memory will continue to encourage the Club to serve our community’s greatest needs.
Rest in peace, Scott. You will be missed.
