Paul Shepard Bursary
The Paul Shepard Bursary is a $1000.00 bursary awarded to a deserving Post Secondary student in the Kawartha Lakes region. This bursary is named in honour of past member Paul Shepard who was a committed member of the Kinsmen Club of Lindsay, was dedicated to the annual Kinsmen Toy Drive, and made substantial contributions outside of the club with his involvement in District and Zone leadership. We are proud to continue our association with his wife Nanci Shepard who continues to remain involved in the bursary to this date. To apply for this Bursary, you must be a resident of the Kawartha Lakes and attending a post secondary program. Applicants must apply to the Kin Canada - Hal Rogers Bursary. The club will review the applications and choose 1 to be forwarded to Kin Canada for consideration for the Hal Rogers Bursary. The applicant that is forwarded for National consideration will be awarded the Paul Shepard Bursary regardless of the outcome of the National competition.

Hal Rogers Bursary
Throughout his life, Hal Rogers believed in the value of education. In his own words, "providing and promoting the finest and most effective education possible for our young people" was a noble endeavor.
Hal’s commitment and devotion to education is evidenced in his many years as a trustee on the Forest Hill Board of Education. In addition, the Ontario Secondary School Teachers' Federation named Founder Hal the first recipient of the coveted Lamp of Learning Award in 1950. The Lamp is awarded annually to a non-teacher who has made an “outstanding contribution to public secondary education in the Province.”
The HREF is supported by Kinsmen, Kinette and Kin clubs, and public donations.
From the fund, $1,000 bursaries are awarded to successful Canadian applicants who are pursuing post-secondary education at a recognized university, community college, technical institute and other schools for advanced education.
